Civil Engineer

The role of a civil engineer is very crucial in the construction business as only they can design the buildings with the right quality control. The construction companies have a highly dynamic nature and have several different departments managing different functions of the company. All such functions are overlooked by the civil sie engineer who commands the team to work on the construction site. The roles and responsibilities of civil engineers can vary in different companies and sites, but they should have an overall idea of the execution of the project until it is complete. They should also have the basic knowledge about every procedure that takes place in a construction site and should also know how to plan it. Here are the important responsibilities that every good civil engineer must take.

Construction site responsibilities

Being a site engineer, one needs to be present at the construction site at most of the time. They should keep track of every new construction and designing on the site every day to take future decisions. Their presence at the site holds value and also motivates other workers to do their job. The construction company holding the project gets the information and updates about the construction through the site engineer.

Travelling responsibilities

A site engineer is also supposed to travel to and from construction sites if they are handling multiple projects at once. They also travel to make deals with the traders and checking the quality of the product or material according to the price and specifications of the project. The site engineer’s advice is necessary for choosing the design, material, and execution of the project.

Technical Activities

Site engineers also perform the survey control of the site and work to establish the level set according to the contracts. They need to make sure that the work is being done as per the construction designs mentioned in the contracts. For this, they need to make regular checks at the site. The records maintained by the site engineer need to be accurate and in accordance with the contract. Any problems faced due to lack of workforce or technical difficulties need to be solved by the site engineer as quickly as possible.

Reports and schedules

The site engineer also needs to make sure that the site has all the necessary resources, workforce, and equipment to carry out the work every day. Any issues which occur during the project are recorded and submitted to the higher officials to make new decisions. A report needs to be produced by site engineer for the works which need to be done on the site, at least two weeks before. They are responsible for maintaining the records and respective sheets for the work allotted to them.

Jobs

It is the knowledge that has been passed on and improvised since the very beginning of human civilization when humans built their first shelter to protect themselves from animals and rain. Infrastructure is always growing due to the growing population and urbanization. Hence, the demand for civil engineers has also increased along with the construction business.
